Isaiah has had a profound love of music from an early age.
Growing up in New York City, he was surrounded by sounds from a wide variety of artists, genres, and cultures. As a teenager, his exposure to the explosive and energetic Bronx Underground music scene inspired his passion for live performance and collaboration. He performed across the tri-state area as a member of multiple Bronx-based bands including Atlantis Bound, Park Slope, and Synapses Firing. His time in these groups sharpened his musical chops in singing, guitar and bass playing, and helped him cement strong bonds with his peers in the local music community.
When he was not performing, attending local shows, or songwriting, Isaiah was learning the fundamentals of audio engineering and meddling in music production and beat making.
In 2019 he began releasing his beats and productions online under the name NoGuru. He got together with a few of his musical peers and started creating songs with them; JoshDst, Doublespaaced, and Cheshire became some of his most frequent collaborators.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck and forced him to isolate from the world, he found a home in the massive online community curated by music producer Kenny Beats via his Twitch channel and Discord server. The friendships Isaiah formed in the KBD server helped maintain his drive to create through 2020. Later that year, he produced, wrote, and performed as part of the online collective 20XX: an offshoot of the KBD group that challenges its members to create thematic projects within a certain amount of weeks.
Going into 2023 and beyond, NoGuru is hard at work collaborating with as many artists as possible, promoting and teasing new ideas and sounds on social media, and aiming to create timeless music the world can enjoy.
